At times we believe that we have lost the Peace of God, which is Perfect Peace, but actually it’s our focus on Him that was misplaced.
“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”
Isaiah 26:3 (AMP)
Last Sunday I got some upsetting news and my mind went into a whirlwind of unrest. The calm and tranquility I woke up with that morning vanished. All I could think of was the disturbing medical report.
Let me share with you the process that brought me back to a state of calmness, tranquility, and rest in the Perfect Peace of God.
As worry, anxiety and fear began to cripple me I shared my burdensome news with family and friends who gave me invaluable encouragement. As I began to proceed with other plans I had for that day my mind began to shift back to the source of Perfect Peace and a scripture came to mind.
6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. “
Philippians 4:6-7 (AMP)
The process of calmness, tranquility, rest in the Perfect Peace of God continued as I began to pray and ask the Lord to intervene. I turned on the radio and sang along with peaceful songs like “I Come To The Garden Alone; Great Is Thy Faithfulness; and His Eye Is On The Sparrow.
Basking in the Perfect Peace of God, which was now flowing like a river, led me to a Park near my home. Some young men were playing basketball, my favorite sport, and I began coaching from my car. Now this for me, a Physical Education Teacher, was the epitome of relaxation. In this relaxed state God reminded me that He had carried me through this exact medical condition before and that He would definitely do it again. I Thank God for rolling back the curtains of my memory, because as the song says, we humans surely do forget.
The Perfect Peace of God was so evident in my heart and mind when I arrived home, I went to sleep singing He is our Peace. I slept like a baby as this awesome process came to a climax.
“In peace [and with a tranquil heart] I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety and confident trust.”

A very encouraging post!
A wonderful reminder of God’s peace that is always there. We just have to believe the word and focus on Him.
