The first half of the year is done; just as quick as that we are at the halfway point. In most companies, this is the review point. Also, for those persons who started the year by setting resolutions or goals, this is the time to review, assess, and adjust to ensure they finish the year strong.
This year, however, has been unusual, to say the least. I shared with you in my January article that you should: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” Proverbs 16:3 (NIV). Many people are saying this is not how they expected the year to go. They had plans/goals; trips and ventures. Yet, it all now seems impossible.
We know that scripture repeatedly encourages believers to trust God for needs and guidance. I also believe that nothing about this pandemic caught God by surprise and He is using this event in history to teach us some lessons as we review, assess, and adjust in the second half.
1 Corinthians 9:26 says, “I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.” In the second half of this year our goals and our movements have to be purposeful. A lot of goals were set, but how many of them had a KINGDOM FOCUS?
Saving money, losing weight, getting a home, buying a car or getting a promotion; they are all great goals, but what is the eternal value?
Personally, my goals shifted during the curfews and lockdowns to how would I help feed those who lost their jobs or how could I help persons pay a bill.
I firmly believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that God wants you to fulfill your purpose. In fact, it’s your duty since He has given you gifts to do so.
So how are you shifting your goals so that you can be a blessing?
I challenge you to use these remaining months of 2020 to increase your focus on the things of the Kingdom of God.
