So we survived January; what a year this month has been. So many ups and downs; there was sorrow, pain and shocking news at every turn. Yet, we survived. If you are alive today it’s because your purpose has not been fully fulfilled as yet…that’s right, there is still a work for you to do.
So how do you start this new month. My suggestion is to start off by thanking God for his Kindness and Goodness that He continues to show us; regardless of how the year started we can think of more than one occasion where God showed His kindness and goodness. Do you remember the cross? Because God is kind and good, and has shown His kindness and goodness toward us through Jesus’ sacrificial death to atone for the guilt of our sin, we are in turn called to be kind and good to others.
As we move into the month of love; let kindness flows from you. Ask God to show you people as He sees them. As we fix our hearts towards people, our actions towards them must also be different. That’s where the goodness comes into play. God is just as concerned about our heart as God is our actions.
If we are to be the God the world sees then we must exhibit the characteristics of Him. So who better to teach us His ways but God Himself. So have a talk with your Father:
“Jesus, teach me to be like You in all our ways. Teach me how to show your kindness and goodness. Teach me to follow in Your humble footsteps. Guide me to the place You want me to be, take control. Mold and shape me into the person I was always destined to become.”
Challenge: Reach out and be kind to someone new. Give them a kind word, or say hello. You would be surprised as to what a little kindness followed with a little bit of goodness can mean to a lost person.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. “
Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
