Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
Luke 23:46 ESV
Jesus entrusted Himself into the hands of God. God’s hands and all His precepts are trustworthy (Ps. 111:7). Everything He does is right and true. From the beginning of time, God’s hands performed wonders. It is God’s hand that laid out the foundations of the earth and spread out the heavens (Is. 48:13). His hands hold all things together (Col. 1:17). In His hand is the life of every created thing and the breath of mankind (Job 12:10). By His victorious right hand, He scatters and shatters the enemy. When God outstretches His mighty arm, nothing is too difficult or impossible for Him. His right hand is glorious in power and love; His strong right arm is always ready to save.
Jesus faced many enemies during His short lifetime. On the cross, He faced the last enemy, death. Even in the midst of the rejection, agony and shame of the cross, Jesus placed His full confidence in the Father. When we are faced with life perplexities, hardships, troubles and trials, we can entrust ourselves to the mighty hands of God. The God who can turn our trials into triumph, tests into testimonies, hopelessness into hope and mourning into joy and dancing.
It was the mighty hand of God that raised Jesus from the dead. The resurrected power of God destroyed the works of the enemy and now Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the ALL-POWERFUL GOD, making intercession for us. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is ours today, because the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in us (Rom. 8:11)
Whatever enemy we are facing and will face, we can be triumphant. But victory is ours only when we trust God’s hand and follow in obedience. When we allow His spirit to work in us, we can rise above. Like Psalmist David said, “And now my head will be lifted above my enemies.” It is God’s sovereign hands that lifts us up.
Lord, I commit my life into Your hands, my past, present and future. I trust you with all my heart. Your right hand will save me from all my enemies.
