In a few days the night sky will be filled with lights, thunder like sounds that echoes throughout the atmosphere, whistles blowing, and people singing the song “Auld Lang Syne” – Times Long Passed. Across the world many watch the clock for 12 midnight hoping to receive superstitious promises of well wishes for the new year.
As 2021 approaches swiftly, with keen anticipation, we all await the eradication of the COVID-19 Virus. We, therefore, are looking for a new beginning. New beginning in health and relationships after such a devastating year; even to the point of losing our beloved Pastor Genius Wells.
We desire new beginnings, a new lease on life and even an opportunity to snap our fingers and erase the memories of 2020, but we know that’s impossible. But there are wonderful verses in the Bible that guarantees new beginnings.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
Revelation 21:5 (ESV)
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)
All of this talking about new beginnings reminds me of a song, “In His time He makes all things beautiful in his time.”
In Christ we have a new beginning, clean slate, a new song, a new heart a new life in Christ and even a new way of thinking. That’s what it is that’s the desire. Companies spend millions of dollars on advertising a new product that they say guarantee happiness as simple as toothpaste to make you have a brighter or prettier smile. But the real guarantee is a new beginning in Christ with eternal values. What better beginning than taking my broken sinful pass and God placing them into His sea of forgetfulness never to be brought up again.
I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
Isaiah 43:25 (ESV)
…For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah 31:34 (ESV)
…You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19 (ESV)
What can be more powerful than to receive the gift of a new beginning in Christ. A new more powerful and authentic life. Wow! What we are receiving is a clear conscience and a guilt free life. What is this new life of new beginnings? My past, present, and future sins are forgiven when I came to make Jesus my Lord and Saviour.
The words to “It Took a Miracle” by, John W. Peterson,
It took a miracle to put the stars in place;
It took a miracle to hang the world in space.
But when He saved my soul,
Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and grace.
A NEW BEGINNING IN CHRIST FOR LIFE!!
