Everyone living on planet earth has seen, heard or been directly affected by COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Did we see it coming? I surely didn’t.
Did we understand the magnitude of its effects? I didn’t.
Do we know when this will end? I have no clue!
What do I know? What can we do during this time? Where do we turn?
This is one of life’s uncontrollable disruptions. We have no control over this global pandemic. What we do have control over is our level of worry, trust and obedience. Our God, who created and controls the universe says:
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
This verse gives us the assurance that our God has this situation under control. He has handled many difficult situations before…His track record for success is one we can rely on.
But let’s be real, focusing on Christ is not a natural reaction for most of us; nor is it an easy one. Our natural tendency is to dwell on the situation at hand, start searching for immediate solutions or having a pity party over the pain and difficulty. As a result, troubles look difficult and can overwhelm us with a sense of defeat.
However, fear and defeat cannot live long in a heart that trusts the Lord. I’m not saying you’ll forget what you’re going through, but you can choose to dwell on His provision and care instead.
During the difficult times, I remind myself of WHO MY FATHER IS;
- Our God Deliverers (2 Cor. 1:10).
- He is a Healer (Deut. 32:39).
- He is our Guide (Prov. 3:6).
We must understand that the believer who lays claim to divine promises discovers that God pushes back negative emotions. In their place, hope, confidence, and contentment take up residence (Phil. 4:11).
You aren’t going to be happy about a difficult situation, but you can be satisfied that God is in control and up to something good in the midst of the difficulty.
Prayer
Lord, we ask for you peace in these times. Peace to trust your plan, peace that surpasses all our understanding. You remind us that your peace you leave with us; your peace you give to us. You do not give to you as the world gives. You command that we do not let our hearts to be troubled and we are not to be afraid. So we holdfast and trust you in each difficulty we face. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
